I wonder if the character Hamelac in this episode is a reference to the Hebrew "Yam HaMelach," which refers to the Dead Sea (literally, "The Salt Sea") and is considered the lowest place on Earth. It makes sense to me that the (literally) lowest, most hidden depth of Earth relates to a leader who keeps his constituents in the (figurative) dark. What do other folks think?
